How the Challenge Works
You just signed up for the Declutter Like A Mother challenge, and that tells me you're serious. You're over the clutter, done with the constant mess cycle, and ready to make some real changes. Changes that will have a lasting impact on your well-being, your time, your home, and your family.
In order for that to happen though, you have to understand that you need to do the work.
This challenge is designed to give you encouragement and support as well as to simplify the daunting task of decluttering. But it won't work if you don't.
So don't come into this with heart eyes, thinking that this is some sort of magic wand that will cure all your stress and solve all your problems- it won't.
But YOU can, and this can help.
My goal in hosting this challenge is to help you stop over-thinking and start DOING.
I want this challenge to get you to a place you didn't think you could get - deep into a less cluttered, more intentional motherhood.
I offer a lot on my website- tips, advice, articles, live streams, videos- it can be really helpful, but it can also be really overwhelming. This challenge is going to streamline all my best tips by categorizing them into several focus areas (one per week) so you don't have to sift through it all and decide what you're going to take on first. I'll just tell you :)
I believe we get in our own way a lot of the time, and my hope for you in this challenge is to get your over-analyzing brain out of the way, and simplify the process of decluttering.
There's one VERY important thing I need to say to you, so listen up...
I know it's tempting to look at how the challenge is going to work and try to tweak it and make it your own, coloring outside the lines and creating your own version. I encourage you NOT to do this!
The whole problem is that you haven't made enough happen in the past, and I spent a lot of hours planning this out in a very strategic way for you. Let me be the expert who's done this in my own home and in tons of other ones - just follow my lead. Let me simplify this for you by taking the brain work out of it.
Follow the weekly prompts and just do what the challenge leads you to do.
Here's how Declutter Like A Mother will work:
We are beginning May 1st and ending May 30th.
If you are joining us late, my best advice is to start wherever we are in the challenge, not at the beginning. There's something truly magical about doing something at the same time as a group of people, working toward the same goal at the same time. It increases success like crazy!
There is a focus area for each week of this challenge.
- In week one, we are focusing on the bathrooms and closets. There is a science behind why we're starting here, trust me.
- In week two, we are focusing on the kitchen.
- In week three, we are focusing on the kids' toys.
- In week four, we are focusing on clothing.
I want you to focus on working 30 minutes a day for 30 days, staying within the focus areas for each week. That's it.
One helpful tip I can offer you right up front is this: choose a time of day that you are going to do your 30 minutes, and stick to it.
You need to prioritize your life. This isn't fun or silly or extra- it's important and it matters. So find time to get it done and do it. Be the warrior I know you are.
Throughout each week, I'm going to be checking in with you and encouraging you to keep going, because I know you're a mom and you have a lot going on, and I know 30 days is a long time.
To keep you inspired and moving forward, I'm going to:
- Send you two emails a week- one on Mondays to tell you about the week's focus area and my best tips for tackling it, and one on Thursdays to give you more tips and encourage you to finish the week strong.
- Live stream two days a week on my Facebook page on Mondays and Thursdays. I'll get in front of you and encourage you face-to-face, err, face-to-your-screen. I'll take questions directly related to the week's focus area and do whatever I can to help you. You will receive an email with the live stream times each day so you can be prepared and try to show up live whenever possible.
