In April, I turned 37. And as I sat with my journal that morning, reflecting on the past year, I found myself thinking about all the lessons I’ve learned. It’s a ritual for me—my birthday is like another New Year’s. I look back, I look forward, and I get really deep into what’s shifted in my life and what I want to carry with me into the next year.
This time, I felt inspired to write down 37 things I’ve learned in my 37 years of life. It started as a personal reflection, but the more I wrote, the more I realized how much I wanted to share these truths with you. So, here they are—37 of the most important lessons I’ve learned so far. Some are big, life-altering realizations, while others are just simple, practical things that have made my life better.
1. People View You Through Their Own Lens
One of the most freeing things I’ve learned is that people will always view you through the lens of their own perspective, beliefs, opinions, and stories about you. And guess what? That is none of your business. It’s not your responsibility to carry or care about. This realization has given me so much freedom—freedom to exist, to be myself, and to not take things personally. Let them think what they’re going to think. It’s not your problem.
2. Religion Controls, But God Is Love
I grew up steeped in religion, but as I’ve gotten older, I’ve come to see that religion is often about control. God, on the other hand, is pure love. And love is not about controlling—it’s about freedom, acceptance, and grace. This shift in perspective has completely transformed my spiritual journey.
3. Kids Just Want Your Attention
This one is so simple, yet so profound: kids just want your attention. That’s it. And if they don’t get your positive attention, they’ll unconsciously do something to get your negative attention instead. I used to think I needed to spend every waking moment with my kids, but now I realize that just a few minutes of focused, positive attention can fill their little hearts.
4. If Kids Don’t Get Positive Attention, They Seek Negative Attention
Building on the last point—if kids don’t get your positive attention on a regular basis, they will unconsciously do something to receive negative attention instead. This has really simplified my approach to parenting. It doesn’t take much—just a little bit of positive attention every day fills their “attention cup” and helps them feel secure.
5. Jealousy Is a Helpful Emotion
Jealousy used to eat me alive. I’d see someone else living a life I wanted, and it would just gnaw at me. But then I realized that jealousy is actually a really helpful emotion. It’s a signal that there’s something I desire, something I want in my life. More than that, it shows me where I’m feeling unworthy or like I can’t have what I want. Now, when jealousy shows up, I welcome it. It’s like a little nudge saying, “Hey, this is something you want. Go after it.”
6. He Doesn’t Care If You’ve Shaved
I’ll keep this one brief—he doesn’t care if you’ve shaved; he’s just happy to be there.
7. I’m Happiest When I’m Disciplined in the Core Four
This was a big one for me. I’ve always rebelled against structure—probably because of my neurodivergence and all the suppression I’ve experienced in my life. But I’ve learned that I’m actually happiest when I’m disciplined in what I call the Core Four: physical movement, alone time, EFT tapping, and hydration. When I’m rigid in these areas and flexible with everything else, I feel so much more balanced and at peace.
8. Skincare Is Important for Your Quality of Life
I used to avoid skincare because I avoided my skin. I struggled with horrible cystic acne, and it made me feel like I wanted to hide. But once I started taking care of my skin, really putting energy into it, I noticed a huge shift—not just in how I looked, but in how I felt. Skincare is a form of self-care, and it’s so important for your confidence and overall quality of life.
9. Most Men Are Unsafe
This one’s a bit heavy, but it’s something I’ve learned through my own experiences and through the countless messages I’ve received from women over the years. Most men, not all, but many, are unsafe. Finding a man who is safe, who truly honors and respects you—that’s finding a king. And a king will always treat you like a queen.
10. If He Doesn’t Respond With Actions, That’s a Message
If you communicate something clearly with emotion and he doesn’t respond with actions, that’s a very loud message being sent to you. Pay attention to it.
11. People Who Say Food Is Better Than Sex Are Having Bad Sex
Let’s be real—if someone says food is better than sex, they’re having bad sex. They need to read “Your Blueprint for Pleasure.” And maybe they need a more suitable partner, too.
12. Lip Liner Can Be Just as Effective as Lip Filler
Lip liner is actual magic. I recently got a little bit of lip filler, but honestly, if you learn how to line your lips properly, it can be just as effective. It’s all about technique.
13. Taylor Swift Is a Genius
Period. No explanation needed.
14. Money Is Masculine Energy
I’ve learned that money is a form of masculine energy, and when we heal our wounds related to the masculine—whether it’s the father wound or issues related to men and sex—we can open ourselves up to receiving more money than we ever thought possible. This realization led me to create a program called Money Magnet Mastery, where I dive deep into this concept.
15. A Nighttime Drive With the Windows Down Can Fix Almost Anything
There’s almost nothing a nighttime drive with the windows down can’t fix. It’s simple, but so effective.
16. Everyone Should Be in Therapy Starting at Age 13
Therapy should be standard, starting at age 13. It should be fully covered by insurance—or fully covered, period. I’m putting all my kids in therapy starting at 12, and I think it’s one of the best things you can do for yourself and your mental health.
17. The Best Way to Make an Impact Is to Be Authentic
The best way to make an impact on people is to be your authentic self. I’ve had to learn this lesson over and over, but every time I step into authenticity, I see the difference it makes in my life and in the lives of others.
18. Splurge on Good Lip Balm and Keep One in Every Bag
For me, it’s Summer Fridays or Aquaphor. I have one in every bag, my car, everywhere. It’s a small luxury that’s totally worth it.
19. Walking Is Therapeutic
Walking is therapeutic. Just take a walk.
20. Most Women Are Married to Complete Dicks
I’ve learned that most women are married to complete dicks, and that’s something I’ve realized through the messages I get every day. Who you marry can make or break your life, and it’s something I’m teaching my kids to be very mindful of.
21. Organization Is a Security Worth the Effort
Organization is a security that’s worth the effort it takes to create. It’s especially important if you’re neurodivergent. Once you figure it out, it’s life-changing.
22. Astrology Is Beautiful
Not TikTok astrology, but the real, ancient study of the planets and stars—it’s beautiful. The moment you took your first breath, the stars aligned for you, telling a story about you. It’s a gift to understand it.
23. Your Relationship With Yourself Is the Most Important
If there’s one thing I want to shout from the rooftops, it’s this: your relationship with yourself is the most important one you’ll ever have. Everything else flows from there. When you love yourself, when you treat yourself with kindness and respect, everything else in your life starts to align.
24. Boundaries Are an Act of Self-Love
Setting boundaries used to be so hard for me. I felt guilty, like I was letting people down. But I’ve learned that boundaries are an act of self-love. If you struggle with setting boundaries, it’s a sign that you need to spend some time getting to know yourself, learning to like yourself, and ultimately, falling in love with yourself. Because when you truly love yourself, you won’t let anyone mess with your peace.
25. Keep a Collection of Funny Videos for Bad Days
You should have a place in your phone full of links to funny videos that you can quickly access on a bad day. Mine is full of videos of cats being scared of cucumbers—seriously, it’s a thing, and it’s hilarious. Having this little collection is like a life hack for instantly boosting your mood.
26. Create Little Weekly Traditions With Your Kids During Summer Break
This one’s for all the moms out there. Create small, weekly traditions with your kids during summer break. It doesn’t have to be elaborate or expensive—just something consistent that they can look forward to. Every Friday can be pizza and movie night, or every Wednesday can be a drive to get milkshakes. These small traditions create memories and make the summer feel special without a ton of effort.
27. Walk Into Every Room as the Most Self-Assured Version of Yourself
Even if you’re nervous, walk into every room as the most self-assured, grounded version of yourself. It’s a power move, and it sets the tone for how others perceive you. Confidence is something you can cultivate, and it starts with how you present yourself, even if you’re faking it at first.
28. The Energy You Bring Is More Important Than What You Do
The energy in which you do something is far more important than the thing you’re doing. For example, drinking wine with good friends because you’re enjoying their company is entirely different from drinking wine alone because you had a bad day. The energy behind your actions shapes your experiences and their impact on your life.
29. Red Light Therapy Three Times a Week Will Change Your Life
Red light therapy three times a week for 15 minutes will literally change the way you look and lengthen your life. It’s one of those small, manageable habits that have a massive impact over time.
30. People Who Don’t Handle Jealousy Well May Try to Take You Down
People who do not know how to handle their jealousy may actively try to take you down. It’s unfortunate, but it happens. When you encounter this, let them do their thing—say their piece, act out if they must—but you hold your head high and keep going. You don’t need to prove anything to anyone.
31. Any Outfit Can Be Elevated by Adding Light Jewelry
This is one of those simple truths that I’ve come to love—any outfit, no matter how basic, can be elevated by adding some light jewelry. It’s the little details that make a big difference.
32. Lemon Water All Day, Every Day
Lemon water is life. All day, every day. It’s a simple, refreshing way to stay hydrated, and it’s so good for your body. I can’t get enough of it.
33. The Best Response Is Often No Response
Most of the time, the best response is no response at all. Silence is powerful. But when you do respond, make it strong and direct. You don’t always need to engage, but when you do, make it count.
34. Understand How to Get and Stay Grounded
One of the smartest things a woman can do is to understand how to get and stay grounded. When you’re grounded, nobody can shake you—your energy is protected, and you move through life with a sense of peace and power.
35. Always Have Fresh Flowers in the House
Always, always have fresh flowers in the house. Flowers feed compassion, reduce anxiety, and add a little happiness and creativity to your day. I’m home a lot, and living with flowers has been a small yet powerful way to brighten my space and my mood.
36. If He Doesn’t Fight to Keep You, You Made the Right Decision
If you say you think it’s time to call it, and he doesn’t fight to keep you, then you made the right decision. Simple as that.
37. Connect With Your Inner Guidance Daily
Finally, I’ve learned to connect with my inner guidance system once a day. For me, this happens in the shower. I take a moment to ask myself, “Is there anything I need to hear today? Any messages that need to come through?” Sometimes, it’s just a feeling of peace; other times, it’s clarity on something that’s been on my mind. But making space for that check-in has been a game-changer for me.
I hope these truths resonate with you in some way. If you want the full list of my 37 life lessons, along with all the juicy recommendations and resources, you can grab it here.
