STILL STARTING OVER EVERY MONDAY?

I'm in!

The Stop Starting Over free class reveals the neuroscience behind why you keep losing momentum and the five-step framework to become the woman who actually follows through.

Stop relying on motivation. Build lasting consistency, self-trust, and habits that finally stick.

There’s a pattern I see constantly, and I’ve lived inside it more times than I’d like to count. You know what you want to do, but you don’t move. And then you’re really annoyed that you’re not doing it.

Free class: If you keep starting over, come to Stop Starting Over: 5 Steps to Becoming the Woman Who Follows Through.

It’s not because you don’t want it. It’s not because you’re lazy, which is what I always thought. It’s not because you’re unclear. You know what you want and what it takes.

You’re waiting to feel ready. Usually subconsciously. Not clear enough, confident enough, calm enough. Not whatever enough yet.

Waiting to feel ready is a nervous system pattern

Waiting to feel ready isn’t a motivation issue, a confidence issue or a discipline issue. It’s a nervous system pattern.

Most people think waiting to feel ready means waiting for complete clarity or certainty, or waiting to feel less scared of what people will think. Those fears are real. But what’s really happening is that your system is waiting for safety before movement. On some level, it believes taking action on the thing isn’t safe.

Here’s the problem: readiness isn’t something your nervous system gives you before action. It’s something it learns through action.

It’s a catch-22, and it’s annoying, but it’s how it works. When you wait, you don’t become more ready. You just get more practiced at waiting.

Why so many women wait

A lot of women were taught early that there’s a right and wrong way to do things, and that doing things wrong is dangerous. That being seen without being perfect is risky. But perfect is impossible, and it’s relative to whoever’s watching. So of course we’re afraid of being seen. This runs deep.

So the system learns: let me wait until I’m really sure.

But certainty isn’t a real thing. It’s a feeling your body produces when it feels regulated enough to move. It’s not that all the risks are gone. It’s that you’re so sure this is your next right move, you don’t care if it upsets someone.

Most women are trying to think their way into being ready, instead of letting their system experience readiness, which requires action.

Forcing yourself doesn’t work either

Readiness isn’t a green light. It’s feedback that shows up once you start.

I’m not going to tell you to just jump out of the plane and put fear in your backpack. Big, dramatic, scare-yourself action spikes pressure. For a lot of you it spikes anxiety, maybe even panic. Pressure reinforces hesitation, and when you’re that anxious you lose access to your clarity and intuition.

So we feel stuck between two options: freezing, or forcing. Neither gets us what we want, and neither builds self-trust.

How to stop waiting to feel ready

Instead of asking, “Am I ready?” shift to: “I know readiness comes from small, non-dramatic action. What can I do that doesn’t require me to feel ready yet?”

  • Do something really small, imperfectly.
  • Take one small step instead of the whole leap.
  • Act neutrally, not with fake-it-till-you-make-it energy. “I don’t fully know what I’m doing, but I could take this tiny step and see what I learn.”
  • Move without deciding what it means about you. If a step going well means “I’m smart,” then a step going badly means “I can’t trust myself.” Let it just be a step.

Your nervous system doesn’t need courage. It needs proof. And you don’t get proof that you can handle it until you take action and survive it. When the action doesn’t overwhelm your system, it learns, “Oh, I can handle this.” That’s when readiness starts to show up. After the fact.

I still experience this every time I’m stepping into a new edge. A new level of money, love, safety or intimacy. There’s a moment where my system wants to pause because it feels unfamiliar and scary. Every time I’ve waited for readiness, I stayed stuck much longer than necessary. Every time I’ve moved gently forward, which is hard for me because I’m very all or nothing, clarity followed. Not always immediately, but reliably.

What waiting really costs you

Waiting delays action. It delays self-trust, because how can you trust yourself if you haven’t tried anything? It delays momentum, which is built one small step at a time.

And it delays identity shifts. When you shift at an identity level, the habits and patterns you’re unhappy with fall away because they don’t match who you are anymore. Identity doesn’t change when you decide who you are. It changes when your nervous system experiences you behaving differently and surviving it.

Try this

  1. In a journal or phone note, list the areas of your life: love, your kids, your relationship with yourself, pleasure, money, your work.
  2. Next to each, write what you really want in one to three words.
  3. Ask: where am I waiting to feel ready to take action on this?
  4. Write out what it would take to get there.
  5. Break it down even smaller. What’s the first neutral, non-terrifying, bite-sized step you could take while your nervous system is still raising little red flags? That’s your action step.

You’re never going to feel ready without taking action. Readiness isn’t a requirement for change. It’s a result of it.
