Declutter Like A Mother

Be the Boss of Your Stuff

Mom life. We’re surrounded with the message that it’s the tired life, the no-time-for-myself life, the hard life. And while it can be hard and full of lots of showing up for others, the idea that being a mom means living a joyless, stale, or shit-show life all the time is something I am passionate about putting a stop to.

I’m Allie Casazza, and I’m about to make your life so much lighter.

I’m the best-selling author of the book, Declutter Like A Mother, and the creator of several life-changing online programs that have enrolled tens of thousands of students.

If you’ve been feeling chronically behind, if you wake up feeling exhausted for a day that hasn’t even started yet, if you constantly feel like you don’t have time for the things that really matter to you, I’ve got you.

I went from being a completely overwhelmed, depressed, struggling mom of three babies and toddlers who, I’ll be honest with you, didn’t want to be a mom anymore because I felt like I was failing so hard at it every day.

Through a lot of figuring out, searching for help, inner work, and shifting how I was doing and being, I found that the less I had in my way, the more joy, focus, and purpose I brought into my life.

We have to define what is in our way and what is actually worthy of our energy.

I went from blogging about my journey to becoming the founder of a multi-million dollar online business, all based on helping women live better, lighter lives.

Join millions of listeners around the world for conversations that will lift your mood, focus your intention and raise your vibe week after week.

We talk motherhood, lifestyle, wellbeing, and simplifying everything from home to schedule to business.

Listen, this is about not just waking up and reacting to our lives and letting the day run us, but setting the intention, taking ownership of every single day, and making life work for us, making it easier.

Friend, I am so glad you’re here! I’m Allie and you’re listening to The Purpose Show.

Hey friends! Because it’s so important to me that I am able to authentically be myself and I want to speak the way that I normally speak here on my podcast, you’ll find the occasional curse word in my show. So, if that bothers you, it’s not something that you want your kids to hear, grab your headphones.

In the show you’ll also find some episodes with adult themes, just things that are a little bit too mature or hard to process for young ears. So in general, headphones might be a good idea. I love you guys. I’m glad you’re here and enjoy this episode.

Hello, my friend! Oh my gosh, our first episode of 2022! I don’t know about you, but I am just having a lot of feelings. I’ve been having a lot of feelings and processing a lot.

Mostly I’ve just been feeling like I know that this year is going to have so much in store for me. I know that it’s gonna be a big year. But I’m also just over feeling the weight of expectations that come with the New Year.

It’s literally just a day. It’s just a mark on the calendar that humans a long time ago decided was going to be the first of the New Year. It has evolved into all this pressure and these crazy expectations that sometimes can be really helpful and really push you forward if that’s where you are, but I’ve just not been there.

I’ve just been wanting to rest, rejuvenate, and create more energy because 2020 and 2021 really took it out of me. I feel like collectively, we’re all there, or at least most of us are there.

I really want to talk about not setting goals and high expectations. Not being negative or not striving for anything, but just the kind of toxic hustle culture that gets wrapped up in the New Year.

I know there are going to be tons of podcast episodes and articles going around the internet during this time that are about making your goals happen, nothing changes if nothing changes, and all this stuff, which is true; I’ve said that. It’s true.

But that doesn’t mean that pushing is the only way for change to happen. I think that what 2021 taught me is that rest is possibly the most productive thing I can do. That feels very counterintuitive, but it’s been proven to me over the last year to be very, very true.

I want to speak that over you, really give you the permission that you don’t need, but maybe it could serve as a reminder that it’s okay to not be feeling it. It’s okay to not be feeling super energized. That is just as valuable as when you do have really high energy.

Feeling like you want to take a break and not do any of it is healthy. It’s normal. It is a signal that you need to pay attention to because it’s your body and mind’s way of telling you to chill out. When you’re chilling you’re rejuvenating your energy tank and filling it back up so you have it for when you need it.

Let this be the episode that tells you it’s okay to not have New Year’s resolutions. In fact, it’s probably really fricking healthy. It’s okay to not have big goals. It’s okay to not be feeling super energized. And it’s definitely okay to be going into this year a little timid because we’ve really all been through it the last couple years.

If you need to rest, rest.

If you have some thoughts on what you’d like to do this year, but you don’t feel like you have the energy to start, it’s just a day on the calendar. It doesn’t have to mean anything that it doesn’t serve you for it to mean.

If the New Year meaning “Day One, let’s go! Start strong!” is stressing you out and not lifting you up and making you feel really good, then just let it go, friend. Let it go like a balloon. You do not need to carry that weight. You do not need to put that silly, external expectation on yourself.

You make the decisions. You can have that “New Year’s Day fresh start” feeling any day you decide. You do not need the calendar to gift that to you. It’s just a day.

Your feelings are valid. What you’ve been through is valid. This season you’re currently in- emotionally, spiritually, physically, in terms of your family – are valid. It’s very, very valid.

Anything that you need, your body is telling you. If you’ve been feeling tired, listen to that. If you’ve been feeling really excited and energized, great. Listen to that. Act on that.

This time of year always gets very, very noisy. The diet culture is screaming at us, which we can tell that to shut the eff up. There are these goals and this extra ambitious, energetic push-push-push-go, hustle culture, goal-situation also yelling at us and it can be a lot. It can be very, very heavy.

So if that’s where you’re at too, if you’re just like, Man, I’ve really been through a lot of emotions and I just am not feeling like enjoying a fresh start right now. I really want to just be, then just be. You have permission to just be. You have permission to just be right where you are, because that is enough. It’s perfect.

When it’s time for it to shift, you’ll feel the energy to make it shift. When it’s time to make changes, you will feel the energy to make changes.

Trust that you are right where you’re supposed to be. Trust that everything happens in perfect, divine timing. And trust yourself more than what the calendar says it’s time to do.

That’s my message for you in this first episode of The Purpose Show of the New Year. Celebrate yourself. Celebrate the fact that you made it through some really hard times collectively and maybe personally.

Just breathe. Breathe and know that there are no rules. There are no expectations. There’s nothing except what you decide. And that is so powerful.

Happy New Year, my love. This year, we’re declaring now, will be good!
